Cal Pac Names Don Ott New Commissioner
San Rafael, Calif. – The California Pacific Conference announces
the hiring of Don Ott as the conference’s new commissioner.
In this position, Ott will market the conference and help to raise
regional and national awareness of the conference and its member
schools.
Ott brings a wealth of expertise to his new post, with over 20 years
of intercollegiate athletics experience including 16 years as the
Associate Commissioner of the West Coast Conference. With the WCC,
he directed media relations, oversaw compliance services, and managed
championships. His additional service as Sports Information Director
at Oral Roberts University and as a public relations assistant for
the Pac-10 Conference refines his background in the competitive
athletics arena. He is also a pastor at Castro Valley First Baptist
Church.
"Don is a great addition to the Cal Pac,” said Cal Pac
Vice-President Debby DeAngelis. “His vast knowledge of intercollegiate
athletics will help our conference to the next level.”
Founded in 1996, the California Pacific Conference is a 10-member
conference sanctioned by the National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics (NAIA). The Cal Pac is representative of higher education
in Northern California with members from the California State University
campuses as well as religious and liberal arts colleges. The Cal
Pac sponsors four women's sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball,
and cross country) and four men's sports (soccer, basketball, cross
country, and golf).
